    About Us

Welcome to the HCYA Warriors High School Swim Team! We are excited to offer a competitive swim team for swimmers of home-directed education in Greater Houston. Founded in 2012, HCYA Swimming continues to expand a competitive base in the Texas high school swim community, and we welcome swimmers who wish to share in the high school swim team experience.

Our swimmers range from junior varsity-level to very strong varsity-level competitors. We do not discriminate, nor do we require tryouts, for we welcome all swimmers who are able to swim the competitive strokes. Due to our geographic dispersion, only some of our members are able to practice together, whereas others are expected to find a suitable practice venue and train with an established program, or train on their own.

In addition to meet participation, our team gathers for social functions, and our families always share a meal together after each meet. Our parents and swimmers enjoy our post-meet time together, and we encourage families to join in our team-building effort. The team generally participates in a travel meet each season which proves to be an enriching learning experience and a fun, memorable event for our families.

Like most teams, we encourage leadership through team captain positions, we maintain time standards for earning Varsity letters, and we keep a record board to establish goals for our participants. To date, several members of our team have continued their swim careers at the collegiate level, including Texas A&M University, the University of Texas, the University of Houston, Colorado State University, Southern Illinois University, Centenary College of Louisiana, and Asbury University, while another member of our squad achieved a prestigious appointment to the United States Naval Academy.

HCYA Swimming provides a unique opportunity for students to share their individual skill sets, enhance time management skills, practice leadership, share the joys of being a member of a competitive team, and build high school resumes for college and job applications. Above all, members of the HCYA Swim Team enjoy the gifts of fellowship and fun!

    Fees and Participation Information:

    • Eligibility: As a general guideline, high school aged students (grades 9-12) and between the ages of 14 years and less than 19 years as of September 1st of the current school year are eligible to compete. Exceptions to this guideline must be approved by the Director.

    • HCYA Membership Fee: Participation with the HCYA Swim Team requires membership in our governing organization, HCYA (Homeschool Christian Youth Association). If the swimmer is not a registered member of HCYA through another HCYA activity or program, then the swimmer must also register with HCYA to provide membership to the organization and insurance for the athlete. Please register with our swim team first to ensure availability and then register with HCYA (as their fee is nonrefundable). Registration for HCYA is through their website.
